Los actos de conmemoración del aniversario del 11-S en la zona cero comenzaron el sábado con un repique de campana y un momento de silencio, exactamente 20 años después del inicio del ataque terrorista más mortífero en suelo estadounidense.
El presidente Joe Biden, los expresidentes Barack Obama y Bill Clinton, miembros del Congreso y otros dignatarios se unieron a una multitud de familiares de las víctimas en la plaza conmemorativa del 11 de septiembre de 2001 en Nueva York.
El monumento se encuentra en el lugar donde las torres gemelas del World Trade Center fueron embestidas y derribadas por dos aviones secuestrados.
También están previstos actos en los otros dos lugares donde los conspiradores del 11-S estrellaron sus aviones secuestrados: el Pentágono y un campo cerca de Shanksville, en Pensilvania.
Está previsto que Biden presente sus respetos en los tres lugares, y que el expresidente George W. Bush hable en la ceremonia de Pensilvania.
